The Fleet Asset Manager oversees the lifecycle, utilization, and compliance of Hansen&Adkins’ fleet assets. This role ensures equipment is strategically deployed to meet freight needs, optimize costs, and support operational excellence.

$95,000-$115,000 per year

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including acquisition, terminal assignment, utilization, maintenance, and retirement, to ensure alignment with business needs and budget targets.
  • Manage auction and salvage process and monitor storage yards for idle assets to dispose of and reduce storage costs.
  • Leveraging fleet management systems (e.g Samsara, Magnus, Ship View Connect) to drive optimization of fleet performance (e.g utilization, fuel efficiency, downtime metrics), and making location change recommendations, replacement, or retirement of assets.
  • Monitoring maintenance costs to identify assets that should be removed from service. Acts as a key liaison between Operation, Finance, Safety, and Maintenance, while guiding Operations on asset allocation decisions without bias, and continuous monitoring to ensure any transfers are completed, reporting delays as needed.
  • Work with CFO to develop a fuel mpg/usage incentive program, track idle/pto time and provide weekly and monthly reports to share with Executives and other departments to increase transparency.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards by maintaining proper certifications and integrating technology such as telematics, ELDs, and in-cab cameras. Monitor RSI violations related to maintenance to identify trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Transportation Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years managing fleet assets in trucking or auto-haul, with strong knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with fleet management systems (e.g., Samsara, Magnus, Shop Connect view), along with working knowledge of telematics, ELDs, and in-cab camera systems.
  • Experience with licensing, permits, IFTA.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills for tracking asset performance, costs, utilization, and fuel efficiency.
  • Experience with auction and salvage disposition, auto-haul operations, and knowledge of truck/trailer, specifications and general fleet maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement operational improvements.
  • Excellent analytical thinking, organizational, project management, communication, and collaboration skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as needed (25%)
